DUAL ENROLLMENT OFFERINGS

Family Christian Academy is pleased to offer up to 8 classes of dual enrollment credit in partnership with Louisiana State University. These classes in mathematics and English offer a great opportunity for students to get earn up to 24 credit hours, get ahead in their college studies, experience a college environment in small class sizes, and improve ACT scores. Several studies at LSU have shown that students who enter college with dual enrollment experience maintain significantly higher grade point averages throughout their college careers.

All students who have participated in dual enrollment classes have qualified for TOPS and have received the dual enrollment credit they were seeking. Several of these students have composite ACT scores in the mid and upper 30’s, with two students making a 35 composite score, which places these students in the upper crust of college-bound seniors nationwide.

Dual Enrollment coursework has a small fee associated with it; however, the cost is drastically reduced when compared to prices paid at LSU. For a DE
course, the cost for the parent is $100 per credit hour. Some classes also require textbook purchase, as well. This cost is $300 for each three-hour class, typically about 70% cheaper than a similar class at LSU. In addition, prospective DE students may be required to meet ACT, GPA, or course history achievement requirements that vary based on the level of course taken and may change yearly.
